Debrah J Flowers + City Hearts, the perfect partnership

I’m so proud to announce that I have partnered with City Hearts, a charity that supports women in South Yorkshire with life controlling issues, including addiction and eating disorders, as well as modern day slavery and trafficking.

I've always wanted to make a difference and to be a part of change. Since studying Criminology at Bedfordshire University and doing my dissertation on human trafficking, I knew I wanted to help people. I was never quite sure in what capacity, when or where but I knew I wanted to help people believe in themselves regardless of what they've gone through or are going through.

Although I became a florist to unleash my creativity, I believe the need and want to help people was a silent driving factor. Seeing the smile on a couple's face when they walk in and see their floral creations, well it’s a feeling that is hard to explain. It’s that warm comfort inside, that wraps you up.

I've seen the amazing impact flowers can have on people, the calming, therapeutic effect it can have, just being able to look at a beautiful vase of arranged flowers and that’s why for me this partnership with City Hearts is perfect! From November 2021, all the flowers that are left over from my large weddings and events, with consent from my couples, will be donated to City Hearts as part of their health and wellbeing programme. I'm hoping this little gift will help uplift these amazing women and men who have been through so much.

Here is what Kirsty, from City Hearts had to say about the partnership:

We are so excited about the flowers that Debrah J Flowers are going to donate. It is such a thoughtful gesture and shows the heart behind the business. We’re sure that the flowers will help show the women that they are valued, and that after all the darkness that they have experienced, there is still plenty of beauty and joy in the world
